I'm doing a presentation on Mozart for my history club and there are just a couple of things I'm not sure about. For one, did Salieri and Mozart actually have a rivalry or is that just Hollywood bullcrap made up for the film Amadeus?

I read sources of 2 billon people is that true?

Did the cold war play a part in the media coverage ? Didn t the West care because the Indonesian mass killings targeted communist ?

The effects are in Europe are well covered but Asia's barely mentioned beyond the obvious population reduction and being the hearth of the disease. Was it basically the same in Europe, or were there other societal changes unique to Asia?

JOAN OF ARC!!! What was said in the secret meeting between Charles VII and Joan of Arc that made Charles VII let Joan travel with and eventually lead armies? I've done tons of research and found nothing out about specifics.

Also, (I'm religious but im curious) from an atheist perspective, how did Joan of Arc correctly identify Charles VII, predict the outcome of a battle, and rally the support to win many battles etc.?

(The rules of this question state no trivia questions, and this may seem like that type of question but after a few months of study, I cant find an answer to this question and it truly bothers me.)

I fell down a rabbit hole of research into castle building & learned that many smaller castles and manor houses were wooden. But my question is HOW? I've found little information on how they could have made wooden planks back then and the process for making square beams was a long and tedious one. Any ideas?

By the end of the Roman Empire, people in modern day Portugal, Spain, France Italy and Romania all spoke Latin. At what point in history did they realise that they were no longer speaking Latin, but separate languages.

I recently over heard some people say that while Mengele was an evil man he was also responsible for a lot of medical and physiological information and research. I to the best of my knowledge don't think he had any impact on medical science but I want to know if this has any basis in truth of if this is more Nazi sympathy in disguise.

In Nixon’s interview with David Frost, he says rather confidently when asked why he didn’t destroy the tape recordings, that he would have destroyed them had he thought they proved he did anything illegal. Keep in mind this is years after his resignation, pardon, and the smoking gun tape is known, yet Nixon is still able to claim he didn’t think the tapes showed him doing anything that would count as breaking the law. Is this just a simple case of Nixon lying to Frost, or being outright delusional? Or does Nixon have a legitimate legal point, that the tapes, while politically damaging, didn’t show him doing anything illegal? I’m confused about how Nixon could say this an interview, while at the same time, refusing to give the tapes over to prosecutors. What am I missing?

I don't really understand how Koreans were made to hate each other so quickly. Surely they would still have the same national identity after only 5 years of seperation? Since the American forces were still in South Korea, I would have thought that most Koreans would have supported the war and fought together to get rid of the Americans, but according to Wikipedia the majority of people who fought against the North Koreans were also Koreans.

What led to this split in identity so quickly? What did civilians on both sides think of the other? And what made the South Korean government anti-unification anyway? From what I understand the North Korean's goal was to unify Korea again, but I can't find much about whether anyone tried to do that without violence.

First history book I'm reading and the forward says, Hein Guderian was recalled into service when Germany's situation became despreate and made Chief of staff when it had become hopeless so he was forced to swallow the dregs.

The jump they did in wealth must have been extreme, where there enough shops and services locally to give them a good return for the risk they took in the raid. Did they use the wealth to build up their infrastructure and society? Did it cause inflation?
