Were there lions and tigers in ancient Italy, Greece and Egypt?

I was recently in Italy and visited a museum there, and there were many sculptures and drawings of lions both in the Greek, Roman and Egyptian section. Those animals are not still there today, so i’m really curious if lions, tigers and other animals were common around those times? What other animals existed in those countries that are not there anymore?

During the Bronze Age at the Eastern Mediterranean, the island of Cyprus was known to be a great source of copper. Where did these people get their tin, the other component of bronze? Did the ancients document a location where a great abundance of tin was to be found, just like copper was in Cyprus?

Was Socrates ever a soldier? Was Athens as bad at military problems as history books say it was?

I don't think there was a war in Socrates lifetime, and historical books and documents have always said Athens sucked with it military. (At least what I found said that)

We went from biplanes to jets over the course of the six years of WW2, why didn't cars make similar jumps in technology?

So I understand that civilian car manufacturing stopped once WW2 started but what were some of the advances that happened between the time that WW2 started (and civilian production halted) and when civilian car production started again after the war thanks to advances made during the war in technology?

Arab Christians have been living in Muslim-run countries for almost 1500 years. To what extent have their beliefs been influenced by Islam?

Some of my ancestors were Arab Christians who left Lebanon during the fall of the Ottoman Empire. I don't know if they were Maronites or from another sect. They quickly assimilated into the Texas Catholic community and abandoned much of their ancestral culture.

To what extent might their former religious beliefs different from mainline Catholicism? Is any kind of Islamic influence present in the theology, liturgy, and other religious traditions of peoples like the Maronites, Melkites, Chaldeans, and Arab Orthodox communities?

Wasn't the Senate still imbalanced after the Missouri Compromise? [Civil War]

Before, when Missouri was still a free state, there were 11 free states and 11 slave states in the Senate. After the Missouri Compromise, there would've been 12 slave states and 11 free states in the Senate. Did the free states not care about the imbalance in the Senate or is my math wrong?

Edit: Also, did the House of Representatives still have a majority of free state seats after the Missouri Compromise?

Why is the French Revolution considered so much more consequential than the American Revolution?

You often hear of the British Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution as ushering in the modern era but I’m not sure I understand why that place is taken by the French Revolution and not the American Revolution. Does it just have to do with how much more radical the French Revolution was during the period before the Thermidorian Reaction? Thanks in advance!

Why is it that so many historical sites and artifacts are buried underground?

I am not referring to intentional burials by a people existing at the time of an artifact or even by people attempting to conceal a site or artifact. I am referring to the fact that many locations and items seem to simply become buried under layers of earth whether three thousand years old or three hundred. This seems true even in locations which are not known for excessive seismic activity nor floods or mudslides where this phenomenon would have a natural conclusion.

For example, many Roman structures in the UK and other parts of Europe have been unearthed but were completely underground even when they are five meters tall or bigger. In London, I know many buildings were simply “built over,” but how are other sites simply “going underground?”

Why is it that Western Religions and Islam have had several major conflicts while East Asian Religions(Shinto, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.) have had a much more peaceful existence.

I mean like, the crusades between Islam and Christendom, the reformation and 30 years war and World War Two were all mainly middle eastern and Western Religions, while in East Asia, there not been almost any major religious conflicts(besides the Hindu Muslim conflict).

Did witches actually exist in christian Europe before the enlightenment, if so where did they get their beliefs from?

I tend to see a lot of talk of the persecution of witchcraft but all the methods of defining someone as a witch seem very... subjective to say the least. Were there any actual witches that believed in the use of magic and evidence that they even existed. I'm talking about books written by them, things like akin to Picatrix. not subjective accounts that were clearly made from torture or false accusation/confessions.

( I'm not talking about contemporary pagans who may have been accused of being witches either although if thats exactly what witches were please let me know.)

Were there ink blots on papyrus?

I'm writing some pseudohistorical fiction and I want the characters to find a document from ancient Egypt which clearly had a name written in it at some point but has had it concealed/removed. If it made sense for this to be an inscription in stone, I'd have it chiseled out, but I think this has to be papyrus.

Would there have been ink blots or similar on papyrus? Is there something else similar that happened?
