Do we know what was happing in Ireland during Greece's Golden Age?

Hey! Tomorrow Imperator Rome, a Paradox game, is going to be available to the public to play. In it, there's only one Celtic(?)/Irish tribe that you can play as, Ulaid. While you can colonize the rest of the lands, Ireland as a whole remains fairly barren. Do we know what was happening there during Alexander's Greece, and shortly after the fall? Were there any tribal organizations, or was it filled by nomadic people only? Are the Ulaids Irish, and if so are they historically recognized as one of the earliest Irish tribes?

How was Ancient Macedon able to raise a standing army?

Wouldn't it be expensive? Philip II was able to develop a well disciplined professional force of pikemen and shock cavalry. How did he do this? Wouldn't it be too expensive for the small Macedonian Kingdom? Even in late medieval period larger states struggled to field large standing forces, using campaign armies.

Why was late Joseon Korea's military So small?

Why was late Joseon Korea’s military so small, despite the threat of Japan? Even with the Gwangmu reforms, I’ve read that the Korean military regularly consisted of 5000 soldiers and increased to only 28000 right before the Russo-Japanese war. This is in contrast to Japan and China, which had around a million soldiers. Why was this so?

In Red Dead Redemption 2 a character purchases a house, and later a barn, from a catalogue (c. 1906). How common was this?

For those unaware, RDR2 is a video game set in the last days of the old west from 1899 to 1907(ish). The setting is a somewhat condensed region approximately covering Texas and the states around it.

Additionally, the catalogue, by description of the in-game retailer, apparently had multiple models of pre-cut home that were implied to be somewhat customisable. How realistic is this?

Using Nêhiyawêwin/Cree Names

How appropriate is it for non-Nêhiyaw to refer to historical figures using their given names? I've heard that using their name after a person's death is disrespectful. Should history books use descriptions of historical figures instead (when possible)?

What about in historical fiction? I think I'm supposed to ask an Elder to give me a name for a character, but what if anxiety makes that impossible? (I haven't found anywhere online I can ask questions of elders, and struggle with going non-verbal, or having panic attacks when speaking in person.) Should I refer to her as 'Nêhiyaw-iskwesis' ('Cree Woman') for now? Choose a name like 'Mâkwa' ('Loon') that is common enough to not be too personal? Something else?

The walls connecting Athens and Piraeus

Maps like this one show ancient Athens had a skinny road fortified by walls that connected it to the port of Piraeus.

This just seems to me like a really weak defensive point. Is there a name for such a long skinny walled region? Wouldn't you need a load more soldiers to defend the walls as well as the two cities? Was it reasonable to have such a skinny and long connection to defend? Do we see anything like this elsewhere in fortifications through history?

Why did Roman leaders in the late Republic seem to commit suicide with alarming frequency when their cause appeared lost? Did differing views on suicide at the time impact this or was this just a rash of really fatalistic behavior?

I recently read a book about the late Roman republic and was struck by the number of times some leader or higher-up in a faction vying for power within the Republic would commit suicide rather than attempt...something else like going into hiding, or fleeing Rome.

What's going on here? The will to live seems nearly insurmountable in people of sound mental health to me. However, I assume that perspective at least partially the result of contemporary cultural mores. So what was it about society at that time that made suicide a feasible option for these people?
