I'm not trying to rip off the previous question posed about George Washington, but a comment by u/secessionisillegal got me thinking. The user commented to paraphrase, "Robert E. Lee who was much loved by his troops but his battlefield prowess was spotty and, ultimately, unsuccessful." As a man raised in Virginia and a fan of history, I was always taught of General Lee's brilliance on the battlefield when odds were forever not in his favor. Despite the obvious Gettysburg battle, was not General Lee a brilliant tactician?

What sort companies did people of that era believe to be smart investments and how did an average person transfer their money to Wall Street in exchange for stock?

How did ancient vegetarians, for example buddhists, get enough vitamin B12? Did they simply drink enough milk or use other dairy products, or did they collectively have health issues due to deficiency?

What exactly constituted the beef between Cicero and Mark Antony? I know Cicero accused him of being gay, but was there more to it than that? Was Cicero being slanderous towards him, or were his criticisms justified?
Was Mark Antony a bad guy in general by the standards of who he was as a Roman politician? Obviously murder is wrong even if someone is trying to ruin your reputation, and he must have really hated Cicero's guts to display his head on a pike in the Forum, but it seems like assassinations of political opponents was pretty commonplace in Rome.

It seemed like such a ubiquitous piece of clothing that just ceased to be worn in mass by the end of the Middle Ages.
I’m mostly interested in the transition from it in Britain.

Did he have a typewriter in prison or did he write by hand? Are there any first drafts left or personal notes and commentaries? I was always interested how he was allowed to write and was able to get the necessary tools in prison, and also whether there are any of the artifacts left from that time. Considering that the Nazis had a tendency to make any objects related to Hitler near sacred.

Were there any specific areas of origin in England that were over or under represented? If so what were they and what was the reason for this disparity in representation?

Might need to ELI5 because I have done some reading around the Constitutional crisis and I'm still not totally clear on the reasons.

I am reading a book, "The Art of Warfare in the Age of Napoleon" which has made the above claim, at least during the 18th century. However, this is a staggeringly high percentage and I find it hard to believe. Is it true, and if not, what did Prussia actually spend on its military?
Additionally, what did other European powers of that time (18th century) spend on their militaries?

I recently took a class in military history where the subject of the war in the Pacific was glossed over and not explained thoroughly. I understand Midway was a major turning point in the battle for the Pacific, but what else did the Allies do to secure their chances of winning?

I've heard it mentioned that after conquering Jerusalem and putting it to the sword, Pompey entered the Holy of Holies in the Holy Temple of Jerusalem.
Is there any record of what he saw while he was in there?

Hello! I have been looking for a read that tackles the urban impact of the wall on the city of Berlin during its existence and after its destruction in 1990, but I haven't been lucky enough to find something that talks about this exact subject. Any suggestions?

I've heard that many English archers were recruited from the peasantry and expected to practice their shooting weekly either at home or in a group setting. I've also assumed that "able bodied" men capable of bending an English warbow appeared in a variety of sizes, but a handful of archery experts on YouTube insist that there were unwritten height standards that the nobility enforced. I know next to nothing on this subject myself; I'm curious what reddit's opinion of this is.
