Was this propaganda spread by the Empire or Stormclocks to hide the participation of the Greybeards in the Skyrim Civil War to make their victory seem all the more amazing, or was this a genuine philosophy based down throughout the ages?

We've all heard the tales about King Aerys and his crimes, but they seem to paint Robert Baratheon in a conveniently good light, considering that he usurped the throne. Was he really so much better than Aerys, or do we just think that way because of years of propaganda?

This was years ago and I just assumed it was a little-known fact among Citadel Council historians. The other day I was trying to find more information about the treaty that was rejected, and I wasn't able to find out if the version of events he told was true or not.

There is the possibility that he is just a Krogan apologist, but I was wondering if there is any truth to the claim that the Krogans tried to surrender before the genophage.

I just finished reading Rowling's biography of Harry Potter, and it struck me how much the wizard civilization seems to be stuck in the past. In fact, I strongly get the impression that the only advances seem to be made by either Wizards born to muggle parents (for example Hermione's Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare initiative), or those interested in studying muggles (as demonstrated by Arthur Weasly, who is ridiculed by his peers for it).

What might have caused this stagnation to set in?
