Is there any evidence as to why it happened, or has the SK government simply classified it all?

What I want to know is whether this is a dated text, if there are factual inaccuracies or misconceptions about the series of events. I don't want to repeat what I've learned from the book only to learn that the conception of events changed forty years ago.

I've heard that over the past several centuries, this "notion" of history, that involves a rigorous, methodological way of looking at how we organize the past would be anachronistic to project onto the past, because their way of looking at history was akin to looking at the "truth."
Is this accurate, and if so, are there proper labels for their notion of history back then, and how we categorize history in a modern sense?

Working on a creative project for my first year history class, I'm going to fill a briefcase with some items that President Kennedy would have been carrying. Here is what I have so far: • Map of Cuba • Satellite images of Cuban missile bases taken by U-2s • Document with parts blacked out • Picture of Marilyn Monroe with a lipstick mark • Anti communism ad • Something leading up to his Dallas trip → map, hotel, travel brochures, etc. • Pill for back pain (health related) • Military budget list • Decoder • Naval insignia on the brief case THANK YOU FOR ANY INPUT FELLOW HISTORIANS/HISTORY LOVERS!
UPDATE: So as CarrionComfort mentioned the items I planned to use were not exactly historical or in order so i changed the project a little. Because I needed to convey a message I filled the briefcase with things that JFK would have had in the days right over the failure of the Bay of Pigs Invasion. My message being that the failure made JFK and the US look weak.
I included: Map of Cuba Fidel Castro mug shot, photos Condolence Letters to the families of pilots killed Letter from the CIA regarding ZIS-5 trucks & diagrams (the trucked used to move captured ex-Cubans) Pre and Post attack maps Rescue map of Cuba Marilyn Monroe photo with lipstick Pill bottle Letter from Khrushchev Blueprints of B-26 aircraft

Watergate besmirched his legacy, sure, but aside from that, we got the Endangered Species Act, he eased tension in China, and got us on track to go to the moon.
Was Nixon as horrible as he is portrayed in popular culture, or was he just a surly guy who became a caricature because of one monumental screw-up?

The [USS Louisiana](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Louisiana_(1812) was an american sloop that participated in the Battle of New Orleans. Is there a picture of this ship? Does anyone know of any similar ships still actively sailing today(in the United States)? Thanks so much!

We read Early Modern English such as Shakespeare in its original form, and even though it's a bit harrowing we can generally make it out. We can also go back to Middle English such as Chaucer in its original form, and though it is more difficult, we can generally make it out. With Old English works such as Beowulf, one would require a translation as it's practically unintelligible.
Would someone in Chaucer's time or Shakespeare's time have been able to look at a piece of Old English, and be able to read it just as easily as we read Chaucer/Shakespeare?

Hello everyone!
So just as the title asks: knowing that the division (although not the same as today) originated in the early caliphates and so I assume in arabia, how did Persia/Iran become predominantly Shia?
If you have any works to point me to, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

So your Roman senator just died after a long stint in government. Who would be chosen to take his place? His son or another wealthy guy? Would this be decided upon their death or was it already decided?

Hi all,
I don't know where else to ask but I guess asking here would be the most appropriate. I'm looking for the religious texts of hinduism, budhism, judaism, christianity, islam and etc. I guess what I'm really asking is where can I find the most unbiased translation of these texts. Also, I want to read them in order from the oldest religion to the newest religion. I'm just doing this out of curiosity and boredom. I'm very curious to the history of religion and its evolution. However, I'm an atheist and not one bit interested in enlightenment (no offense to those who are religious).
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for help in advance!

I once heard that 100 years ago, the average person in the U.S. didn't ever travel more than 20 miles from their home. I have been unable to find a source for this alleged fact. Is it true?

I am an Norwegian. On an 1 to 10 scale i would put Sweden on 8 on how good i understand them. However, whenever i listen to a Dane i have to focus a lot more. It just sounds nothing at all similar. Is the Dane language even from the same branch as the other norse countries?
