I asked this question in the fantastic Napoleon AMA (thanks for all the answers) but unfortunately I was too late to receive an answer.
I'm not that knowledgeable about Napoleon so would like to have some introduction on his life.

I really enjoyed "Napoleon" by Vincent Cronin. It's a brief biography of Napoleon that doesn't get into too much detail and just covers the broad strokes. It does a good job of helping the reader understand some of Napoleon's motivations and personality traits, and helps foster a basic understanding of his achievements and failures.
