Where did "Sylvania" come from?

by UnrealPineapple

So Transylvania, a region in Romania, has the same ending as Pennsylvania, which was an English Colony, with a large Dutch population. Where/why did "sylvania" start?

Sylvania comes from the Latin word for the woods or forest.

Transylvania means the other side of the woods.

Pennsylvania means Penn's Woods, named for William Penn who was granted the land charter for the area.
