are there any historians that know anything about this? its credibility? second one that is, first one just adds on it. Im getting into the history of everyone but thought id start with myself. I was also wondering if anyone knew the origin of the name Egerszegi. (my last name) itd be cool if someone knew anything or had an opinion.
well, there have been several posts about the origins of the Hungarians, but no mention of Sumerians specifically :) Hopefully someone can jump in with some information on that and your surname; meanwhile, here's the discussion so far
Central Asian Tribes - where and when?
Who came with the Magyars (Hungarians) to Europe, and what happened to them?
What is the relationship between Huns and Hungarians (Magyars)?
The Sumerian idea has very little credibility on any scientific or logical level - I've studied the linguistic aspects of it, and it's ill- conceived bunk.
Most Hungarian names ending in -i or -y are place names (the ending means "from," more or less. Egerszeg is a town near the Austrian and Slovakian borders - a very nice place in a nice part of Hungary.
