The earliest color photo that I could find of the Statue of Liberty was this shot from 1930, taken by Melville Bell Grosvenor; he circled the harbor in a zeppelin to get this shot, which was the first aerial color photo. The publication of the photo in National Geographic popularized the Finlay color process for taking photos. The original hue of the statue, of course, was a brilliant copper, as seen in this postcard.
