After all weren't there Greeks and Armenians and all sorts of other groups rocking it up in the Anatolia A.D.? did they just pick up every man woman and child and move, or did they mix in with the natives?
They didn't in Eastern Anatolia. The Greeks and Armenians lived in Anatolia and the Armenian Highland until the Armenian and Greek Genocides in 1915. That's really about all there is to it. They quite literally picked up every man, woman and child and marched them into the Syrian desert where most perished.
No Christian Armenians remain in Turkey any longer, only the Hemshins who are Islamised Armenians. Some Pontic Greeks remain in Turkey, but it's estimated most who have converted to Islam and essentially Turkified.
In Western Anatolia, the populations gradually Turkified after the fall of Constantinople.
