I butter my toast, oil my pan, pepper my chicken, and salt my brine; are there any other food items that were used as verbs historically?

"Spice" my stew. I'm going to "stew" these apples and make apple sauce. The Broncos "creamed" the Patriots. (Or, "Cream" butter and sugar together).

There are many aquatic examples: I'm going "fishing"; Let's go "clamming"; He's on his boat out "lobstering"; They have been "whaling" for over two years; He "scalloped" the edges of the birthday card.

I also "riced" the potatoes. I "floured" the rolling pin before rolling the pie crust; We went "berrying". In New England, early spring is the time for maple "sugaring". I have to go now, it's time to "milk" the cow.

But before I go, let me "toast" you for coming up with a very interesting word game question. (Though perhaps I should "roast" you instead as I'm not sure this question is strictly historical).
