The "true" answer to your question is currently unknowable, and so any attempt to answer it would necessarily be speculation. Again, the subreddit's rules forbid answers grounded in speculation and personal opinion. But, the very nature of the question calls upon people to create a historical narrative of recent history that they have lived through, which really aggravates the likelihood of bias.
Also, within the time period you have selected, there are numerous political events that continue to have present day relevance (the Iraq War, Afghanistan War, elections in 2000, 2004, 2008, the September 11 attacks, et al) Each one of these issues are just too likely to cause heated politicized debate about current day politics, which would be unwelcome.
