This question has been bugging me for a while, historically speaking, How many times did a single person, or two, go on a killing spree back in the day when swords were popular but guns were not, just like how a deranged person goes on a killing spree today with a gun.
A similar question came up a few months ago, if you find the replies helpful. See the bit about Malays "running amok."
I am not sure this qualifies or not but this guy killed a family of 7 in 1870.

I used to live near where this happened and the Church yard has a big memorial stone to the family that were killed. I guess at the time it must have been quite a shocking crime. My link does not mention any weapons but I believe the memorial stone mentions an axe.
Edit: Found another link with more details and this does mention the axe although an iron bar and a hammer also seem to have been used. Oddly enough he did actually have a gun which he pulled on the police when they went to arrest him. Possibly he did not have it with him when he committed the crime.
