After the plagues of the Middle Ages, did the survivors become wealthy due to a surplus of natural resources and goods?

It was not all that simple. There was a surplus of natural resources because of the sudden decrease in population. Then again, there were less people to exploit the resources because of the decrease in population. The biggest shift was in the working class. Now the laborers could charge more for their work, or move to where they were needed, giving rise to a very early form of what we would now call the middle class.
