This question has been removed because it's an "in your era" or "throughout history" question, a poll-type question, and is, as you noted, not about history. If you have a specific question about a historical event or period or person, please feel free to re-compose your question and submit it again. Alternatively, you may PM /u/caffarelli to have your question considered for an upcoming Tuesday Trivia thread. Additionally, I'm going to keep this topic in mind for future "Feature" threads. Take care! :)
Most authors may be reluctant to answer your question - so I suppose that is a bit of an answer in itself. I have book projects lined up like the Rockettes, but I would be reluctant to share all but the ones nearly complete. I write books that I want to read, on subjects that lack a treatment of a subject the way I want to see it done, I put the subject on my list and start collecting research material. But when the subject is far from being completely treated with a manuscript, I'm not necessarily eager to tell the world, because someone is likely to take the idea (and spoil the work I have already invested).
Now that I am semi-retired, I have the time to write (I have published 10 books and another is due out in a few months), so I can look forward to many more books, but that will last only as long as my eyes, mind, and heart last. The loss of any one of these will mean the end to my writing. Money is not the issues, and frankly never was. If someone wants to write, that person will write, even in poverty.
