I have a few unidentified execution photographs, but just when exactly was this mass execution in south Louisiana?

by tinyshadow

I have a series of original execution (possibly a legal lynching) photographs that my grandfather saved from a courthouse in very southern Louisiana. They were throwing out all the old records, and, happening to pass by, he noticed them and asked if he could keep them. We found them tucked away among his books after he passed, and we still don't know the exact when or where of this execution, let alone the who or the (alleged) why.

Here is the collection.

1st photo: The three black men standing with two black women sitting in chairs.

2nd photo: The same men now on scaffolding for a hanging, wearing in the same clothing as the first image, with well-dressed black men (likely ministers?) also on the scaffolding, who are speaking to them.

3rd photo: The men with nooses closer around their necks, each with a different expression.

4th photo: The men hung by rope, the image postmortem.

I am hoping that someone can help me identify the time period in which these photographs and this mass execution takes place. Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder if it could be this case in St. James parish in 1871? Some of the details match up.

I am sorry to not be able to answer your question, but is it just me or did they not leave enough rope for the man in the middle? To me it appears his feet are on the ground.

Does this count as a mass execution?
