I am interested into whether propaganda was that effective during the years of the Nazi state (1933-1945)? Is there any extensive historiography that would argue that it was and wasn't effective?
Joseph Goebbels is considered to be one of the forefathers of propaganda, and the propaganda that came out of the Nazi regime during this time was considered by some to be some of the most effective ever created. I'm not an expert so I'll try and be brief as to hopefully avoiding spilling over into topics I'm not 100% versed in, but I would suggest the most prime example of Nazi propaganda during this time is The Triumph Of The Will. This wasn't made by Goebbels but it's considered to be a masterpiece of film and propaganda, and might give you a little more insight into the film side of propaganda during this time.
