Why exactly did Hitler try to exterminate the jews?

by KommandantVideo

I ask this question out of curiosity. First question to be answered would be : Was Hitler actually so fanatically anti-semetic as people put him out to be? Did he actually even dislike the jews, or was he simply playing up the anti-semetism in his book Mein Kampf in order to win the support of the anti-semetic populace in Germany? If he really didn't hate the Jews, wouldn't it have been easier to intern them in camps, rather than wasting resources to transport them all over and exterminate them? Or was exterminating them in this way actually more efficient than keeping them alive? If I am correct, the genocide was actually hidden quite well by the German government, so in theory, he could have just kept them alive and continued spreading the propaganda that he was while he was indeed killing them. So really the answer I'm seeking here is what is the precise reason that it is thought that Hitler tried exterminating the people?

Yes, Hitler really hated Jews. He was known as an anti-semite before he wrote Mein Kampf, and he said lots of anti-semitic things in private. And he went to enormous effort and expended a lot of resources to kill Jews. While there were benefits to the war effort in killing Jews,by the time the war was nearing its close, it had become an inefficient use of resources. That is, by killing Jews and taking all their property, he was enriching the Reich. By putting them in concentration camps where they were worked to death, he got the cheapest slave labor possible. Keeping Jews alive would involve more resources in food, clothing, supplies, and troops to guard them. But as the war was coming to a close, and it became clear they were losing, Hitler used train cars to transport Jews to concentration camps to kill them, rather than using the train cars to transport troops where they could be useful in the fight. And rather than just leaving the Jews alone in those final months, they instead stepped up the killings so that there would be a greater number of Jews dead by the end of the war. The full horrors of the concentration camps were kept from the public, but it was a pretty open secret that they were killing the Jews. The reason for this was not to keep in from the German people, but to make it easier to kill Jews. If you know you're going to be killed, you'll fight back more than if you think you're being relocated. The Nazis created elaborate charades to conceal from Jews the fact that they were being taken to their deaths. The reason Hitler tried exterminating all the Jews was exactly what he and so many Nazis said it was--they blamed all of their problems on Jews and thought the world would be a better place without them.
