Was Caesar an honorable Roman who was assassinated by greedy politicians who only wanted to gain power?

We need this for a class debate....

Not so much "gain" as "regain."

I wouldn't call Caesar so much "honorable", which is by most respects an abstraction from what is pure, simple politics, as practical. He was a good general, he knew how to keep the public fat and happy, and he had a good handle on politics.

But using terms like "greedy" and "honorable" is a bit bizarre. They're romanticized ideas.
