Was there an English upper class in every British colonial area? If so, what happened to the English settlers in Ghana, Egypt, Kenya, Yemen, and Burma?

In the memoir Don't let's go to the dogs tonight, the author described her parents originally lived in Kenya until Mau Mau in the 1960's, then they left for Rhodesia because Ian Smith declared Southern Rhodesia independent and ruled by whites. Many others either went back to the UK or went to South Africa.
