Inventions during WWII?

by trentnotfrompunchy

Been interested in World War II lately, watching too much History channel, and was just curious as to some of the things that were invented during war. Which country invented them, and how long did it take for the opposing force take to realize / steal this new technology.

Cheers!

"Fruits of War" by Michael White is a good source for things that came about due to the military spending in WW2 and other time periods as well.

Examples (from the book) include;

The radar which saw funding early on as it was needed to counter aircraft

GPS (early forms) mounted onto V1-V2 missiles to guide them

Efficient rockets on the V2 missile which is still considered one of the most if not the most efficient rocket system in the world (was used on the Saturn rockets which achieved the moon landing)

There were other inventions but i read the book 4 years ago so memory is rusty.
