Wikiquote isn't much worse than any other quote aggregation service. Actually, because of crawlers, most of the stuff on the web you'll find has been lifted from the wiki articles.

If you want to use a quote and are worried about reliability, the only sure-fire way to resolve your problem is to see where the author said the quote and find it in the primary source text, or at least find it quoted in a newspaper or academic publication.
