American History 1600-1800

by cabsarehere

Hey all,

I am a senior in college and have to write a 20 page paper on an event that took place between 1600-1800 in America.

The two topics that interested me the most were the American Revolution and Ben Franklin. I decided to pursue a topic on the American Revolution and the question I have decided to go with is "How/Why did the British lose the war?"

I am a European History major and so the American History stuff is giving me a problem. I have months to do this assignment, so I am trying to compile books/research now.

Do you American Historians have any advice on books I can check out for my topic or advice on a different, perhaps more intriguing topic?

Thanks in advance.

If your specialty is more on the European side, you might make your thesis more specific in that regard (especially with your interest in Ben Franklin). For example, you might focus on the role played by the French in the revolution and how that contributed to the the Colonies' victory.
