I'm really interested in history and video games, and I was very curious about scholarship that might be available on the topic. Mainly, I'd want to learn about how video games have developed and changed in scope and impact on culture.
So to reiterate my question, does anyone know of any good scholarship that they've read/heard about on this topic? I apologize if this is the wrong subreddit. If so, I will gladly delete the thread and move on to that subreddit.
Sure there is. It's got it's own subject heading in the Library of Congress system even. "Video Games - History." This book looks pretty interesting, from an academic publisher. It's subject headings include both "Video Games - History" and "Video Games - Culture" so sounds right up your alley.
I'm sure a basic search for academic articles should turn up quite a bunch too, but I'm guessing you're not at college?
