Were there any countries that were not greatly affected by the Great Depression in the 1930s?

As several countries (e.g. China, Poland and Australia etc) managed to maintain positive economic growth throughout the recent global financial crisis; were there any countries that managed a similiar outcome during the Great Depression in the 1930s?

I asked a similar question to this, focusing on Russia & Japan here.

Hopefully you'll get some more information, though! :-)

The Soviet Union did comparatively well during the early 30's, with many Western visitors commenting on its economic fortitude. The Five Year Plan showed strong nominal surplus (though the distribution of these benefits across the economy was difficult to manage even from the start).

The Terror of 1936-39 stalled the industrial power of the USSR, however, and devastated factory managers and administrators, who were often accused of "wrecking" and conspiracy against the workers.
