I'm not sure I'd say favorite, but one of the most entertaining names I've been working with recently is Plunkett Fleeson. He was an upholsterer in Philadelphia in the 1770s who's shop made George Washington's first set of Marquee tents, bed hangings, bedding, etc and sold him most of his campaign furniture for the revolution. The receipts are still around as are a few of the furniture items.
