How have the lives of African Americans changed in the US since the Civil Rights Movement?

Obviously they got their civil rights, but i'm talking about things that still happen today that the Civil Rights Movement aimed to end, Like widespread poverty.

Poverty is still a massive problem in the United States, particularly for African Americans, but there has been a tremendous improvement in the standard of living since the 1950's which began during the height of the Great Society. That thread was unfortunately started by a race-baiting jackass, but the answers in it are very good, particularly /u/eternalkerri's answer here.
