So after my great grandfather passed I was cleaning out his house and came across THIS hidden in the back of a drawer, in a little box.
I really didn't know much about his past. He never talked about it and I never really asked. He wasn't exactly the friendliest guy. Anyway, if anybody knows anything about this I'd be curious to know what it is.
It says "Deutsches Reich 1937" on the front, and on the back it says "Paul Von Hindenberg 1847-1934"
Did a bit of Googling myself, with no real results, before I decided Reddit might know.
Thanks in advance :D
EDIT: also, if this is totally the wrong place for this, sorry :/
A bit of googling had let me to this coin. It looks nearly identical (eaiser to view if you click on the coins for a closeup). Obviously, it would have to have been altered in some way, but the eagle, words and even the dots around the perimeter all match up. I've seen similar methods of altering coins on DIY with people turning certain coins into rings.
(I'm sorry if this doesn't meet Ask Historians guidelines for answering. I know it wouldn't in most cases, but this question doesn't align with most cases).
Where exactly does it say Paul von hindenburg? I don't see it in the pictures.
