I'm writing a novel that is set in London, from 1840's - 1890's, and historical accuracy is very important to me. Although I am still in the development phase, I'd like to find someone that I can bounce ideas off of and see whether they would fit the times.
You should check out the book What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew. It talks about what life was like during the 19th century so that people can understand the 19th century novels. But it can also be used as a guide to exactly what a novelist writing about the 19th century needs to know. There's also a book, Georgette Heyer's Regency World. This does the same stuff as What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew, but it's about the Regency period and the few years before and after that, so basically 1800-1830. I've read both of these books, and I think they will both have some value to you, though more for 1840 than for 1890.
I study this time and place, and I'd be happy to andwer any questions you might have. Be warned: the Victorians were quite different from us in many ways, and story lines that would make sense to us would not necessarily make sense to them.
