When I was growing up in the Philippines, there seems to a belief where they used to own Okinawa from a very very long time ago but I can't seem to find any evidence of this at all.

The only thing I can think of is that both Okinawa and the Philippines were under US control at one point.

Also Aparri was a trading post with Japan and the Ryukyu Kingdom.
