Have the victims of recent commercial shipwrecks ever report hearing the ship hitting the ocean floor?

Umm, could you elaborate on that question a little? Certainly, if you are in a watercraft or ship of anykind, and strike an obstacle or the bottom, you can be quite sure that you will notice it. But if your question is if it is possible to hear, from the surface a sinking object striking the bottom...the answer is: probably not. Despite it's mass, an object as large as a ocean-going ship is not sinking very quickly -- mainly because water is pretty dense and viscous, at least compared to air. But this is more of a /r/askscience questions than a question for the historians.
