Been doing some research into the subject myself and I'm just looking for some new perspectives on the matter.
A better place than where?
John D. Rockefeller was born in the U.S., grew up in the U.S., lived all his life in the U.S.
From starting his first job as a bookkeeper paid 50 cents a day, he he advanced his career rapidly. He became very wealthy in the U.S. through his ownership of Standard Oil. He became the world's richest person, and the first American billionaire. He spent the last 40 years of his life apparently happily retired as a philanthropist, donating vast amounts of money to worthy charitable endeavors.
The U.S. was obviously a very good place for the life and career of John D. Rockefeller. Whether any other place might have been "better", is, of course very hard to determine.
It seems unlikely.
