Why didn't Morocco (or other non-European countries) attempt colonization in the Americas?

I've always been interested in countries like Sweden, Kurland, and others who attempted colonization but failed due to various factors. I wondered why a country close to the two best early colonizers was not able to make a significant attempt to follow in their footsteps.

From 1415 to 1578 the various kingdoms in Morocco fought a nearly constant war against Portugal and Spain as the "Last Crusaders" tried to push their Reconquista into Morocco. These wars finally ended when Portuguese nobility was destroyed at the battle of Ksar-el-Kebir in 1578. The Sharifian dynasty of Morocco sometimes were helped by the French or the Ottoman empire, but for the most part, their struggle to survive the Iberian onslaught precluded them from any colonial adventures in the new world.
