its just a book, written by people. read the bible, theres much peace in it, but also some serious gore and splatter stuff. jesus said some cool stuff, but if you read the rest of the bible you could think it wants you to kill everyone everywhere. same with islam, they say the book was send from heaven, but its only a book, written by people, changed over the centuries, to suite the needs of men who had the power in given time. we don't even know if the translations are right, so its impossible to say how it has changed over time.

if you take it to the core, the one and only important message, its still about peace, like the bible it only says "don't be a dick". and all the shitty stuff was added to manipulate people and to let them think and do what you want them to think and do. if you get that message and forget about the rest, you'll be like most of the moslems, peaceful nice people, like everyone else. but if you just take the assholes, yeah, thats what they do, they utilize it to justify what they do. if it wasn't religion, they would find some other bullshit to have an excuse for being an asshole.
