During operation Barbarossa their was a large scale relocation of Russian industry west of the Urals; how was this accomplished and how did it effect populations and economy after the war.
90% of all factories were moved east from areas such as Ukraine and Byelorussia. This was mostly accomplished by trains and there was a massive shift of population to eastern cities of Leningrad, Novrossisk (from Ukraine), etc., but many couldn't leave because the Germans advance so quickly in the beginning of the war.
