I assume there was but have not found much discussion of it. I'm trying to put together a little documentary but have not found any video sources on the matter.
Well I know there was in the Australian Army, I assume there would have been in other western armies too. From what I know speaking to veterans and from books I have read (which are all from an Australian perspective, so you probably aren't interested in them).
Soldiers suffering from combat fatigue, but still at least somewhat functional would often only get as far as the Regimental Aid Post where the medical officer would often call them a malingerer and send them back to the line.
