Were Zeppelins used in World War II ?

by [deleted]

I know that they were used in the early 1930's for Nazi propaganda, such as the Hindenburg being flown over the 1936 to show the world the might of Germany science and engineering, but were Zeppelin's used for anything else in World War II?

LZ 130 (Graf Zeppelin II) was sent out at 2nd August 1939 at 20:53 for a two day flight to test the chain home radar stations.

This is the closest of any military use of an LZ during WW2.

Her last flight was to Essen/Mülheim Airport at 20th August 1939. This trip (landing at 21:38) meant the end of large airship transport.

Göring ordered the destruction of LZ 127, LZ 130 and LZ 131 in April 1940. The material was recycled and the hangars in Frankfurt destructed my army engineers.
