I was wondering this after thinking about the huge success some Soviet, American and British tanks had during and after the war, the T-34 or example, I was thinking why did for example the Panther which was by most accounts better than the T34 have its life ended with the end of the war where as the T34 thrives even today?
Take a closer look at Pz.Kpfw. IV operators for example.
Syria still used those during Six Day War.
It mostly comes down to production and surviving numbers.
See this for example of production numbers up to 1945:
Germans: 46,700
Soviets: 102,300
The soviets produced more than two times as much tanks as the germans.
And german tank production stopped after WW2.
While the T-34 was still produced after the war.
But what /u/Mazius said, some surviving units were still used. Not that many simply because there just weren't many german tanks left.
