What would the interior consist of? Single small room or maybe a large open space?
What would the inside be lit by? Open windows? Candles?
Would there be livestock inside or nearby?
Washroom facilities if any? How clean would the occupants typically be?
A lot of questions I know, but the commoners life seems so fascinating to me. Cheers!
In almost every house except for those of the truly wealthy, rooms were designed to be multi-purpose, and the furniture would match. The dining room table would probably fold up and be stored in a corner during the day, etc.
Also, the basic furnishings, plates, silverware (no forks until the 16/17th c.) were also fairly basic and inexpensive. Again, this is in all but the wealthiest of households.
