How did Andrew Jackson have Cherokee Indian scouts?

by Liberadots

My history professor mentioned that Andrew Jackson had Indian scouts working for him during the Battle of Horseshoe bend. How did this come about that he had these scouts?

The Cherokee nation had opted to side with the United States against the Red Sticks in the Creek Civil War. Indian nations were rarely united against white rule and inter-tribal divisions regarding what to do against Western powers was also often divided. Siding with the United States came with the hope that it would secure the Cherokee's future. They would be sorely mistaken as the Treaty of Fort Jackson didn't differentiate in the lands seized from Lower Creek, Cherokee, and Upper Creek.
