Could someone recommend a good book on the progress of technology in early humans?

by StopBears

I've been lately very interested in early humans and our origins and how technology has developed after watching True Detective and Cosmos. I was hoping someone here might have a good recommendation for a book about how technology developed in early humans, such as fire, language, etc. Maybe this is entirely too broad but I would love to read about this! I appreciate any help!

There's a book I got which might be helpful- history in 100 objects or something like that. It starts with early human stuff, such as language, fire, farming etc. It's a really good read anyhow.

Try "The Human Career" by Richard G. Klein. Published by Chicago University Press. Heavyweight human evolution textbook, possibly dated since I did my degree ten years ago but should still provide you with a good basis for further study.

The Human Past: World Prehistory & the Development of Human Societies by Chris Scarre was the core text book when I did Archaeology 9 years ago. There was a new edition out last year so it should be up to date.
