How did the American War of Independence, and grievances of the Third Estate contribute to the development of the French revolution?

by El-Baba

I know that:

  • It placed strain on French finances
  • Led to the convening of the Assembly of Notables + aristocratic revolt
  • 'American spirit' influenced it in a sense
  • Used as an example of revolutionary success and increased the ambitions of those wishing for reform in France

Answering the contribution of the two elements (American war + grievances) separately would be greatly helpful

The answer is no, if you look at this where I helped answer it, generally the answer is no. I disagree with Clockt0wer though and didn't see his response as it happened after I gave mine. Generally, the two don't have anything in common beyond the strain on the finances it put on France.
