What were the German occupations like during the First World War?

by DrVoltasElectricFish

In contrast to the plethora of scholarly works and first-hand accounts of German occupations in countries during World War II, there seems to be very little material out there on what the German occupations of Belgium, France, etc. were like during World War I. Does anyone have any information on this period?

in a book i had from Vassily Grossman a war corresponsal at the eastern front he interviewed people from the conquered pieces (Ukraine, Belarus and such) they told them that the Germans had "made little to no damage back when they where here, in the 1916" and some of them even believed that they had come to rescue them from the collective farms (Koljos) also they mention that the soldiers slept in the shed and the officer inside the house, that he even ate with his family but besides that i can`t tell you
