Have there been any real-world cases of military playing ominous music to scare the opposing side, a la "Ride of the Valkyries" in "Apocalypse Now"?

Not sure about the ominous part, but music can be part of what is called psychological warfare.

I understand music was used during Operation Nifty Package (1989, US military capturing Manuel Noriega in Panama) as a weapon. Long periods of very loud music used to, well, disturb the people under siege and try to speed up their surrender.

Not exactly a clear example of music but the German Stuka dive bombers had sirens ("Jericho trumpets") to produce this characteristic sound to try to intimidate and confuse.
