What was Christianity's influence on Women's Rights?

by PlatnumPlatypus

I read a post on Reddit not too long ago regarding how Paul actually opened the door for women's rights in Ancient Greece. I can't find the comment. Is this true?

Though I am unsure of Paul's exact influence I would say it negatively effected women's rights. Christianity's view of women was that they should remain pure and maintain traditional roles at home. Later in the 1800s and 1900s when liberal reform was occurring across Europe many males thought that women allowed to vote and have a say in government would instinctively want more conservative action. Though there was a name for these movements I am currently unable to find them I will edit this post if that changes.
