Was Goebbels actually referred to as ''Minister of Propaganda''? Doesn't that seem a a bit obvious?

I mean wouldn't the people have been a little but incredulous of what their Minister for Propaganda of all things was telling them.

His title was Reich Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. He was supposed to help 'purify' German culture through control over media.

So it wasn't as if he was wearing a giant sign that says 'I am oppressing you'. He fit right in with the rest of the Nazi ideology of 'saving Germany' through 'cultural cleansing'.
