Not hugely important, but I've always found this clock in Mexico City to be quite curious. It was a gift from the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed V to mark the centenary of the Mexican independence in 1910. For some reason I find having a gift from the Ottoman Empire surrounded by a modern city burrough weirdly anachronistic.

as a token of Norwegian gratitude to the people of London for their assistance during the years 1940-45.
according to the sign at the base of the tree. The tradition has been going on since 1947. It might not be as deep an impact as the Statue of Liberty, but I think it qualifies as a longstanding influence.
