Study supplement question - Does anyone know of a good online interactive map resource for world history?

by solidcat00

I am hoping this will be an appropriate sub to ask this question.

Currently reading The Penguin History of the World by J.M. Roberts (self interest, not academic). I am enjoying it emmensely but I have a hard time keeping the information in my head. Ideally, I want to have a decent grasp on the summary of world history. I am a visual and kinetic learner so I would like to supplement the book with maps that I can play with.

I have found an interesting site for maps - http://www.timemaps.com/ but I thought I would ask the experts. Does anyone know of other history sites that are interactive and feature maps?

Here is something called the "histomap" created by John B. Sparks. I found this from another reddit post but I love it. It really puts into perspective all the major civilizations in a visually pleasing way that is easy to follow. Enjoy! http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_vault/2013/08/12/the_1931_histomap_the_entire_history_of_the_world_distilled_into_a_single.html
