I was curious about the cost of horse shoes, but a full cost breakdown would also be very nice. How much would I be spending on stable fees, feed, horse shoes and other related expenses?
How do all these add up against the cost of a horse?
And a further question: how would these costs compare to today's money?
(I'm just imagining an answer like $75 for a horse, $6 per month stable fees etc and thinking that it would both answer the question and not at the same time).
And, was horse-thievery commonly a Capital offense, as depicted in film?
Wasn't this a bit ... Harsh, if so? (Being that grand theft auto is well below even what we view as a serious property crime today?
Were wild horses seen as some sort of natural resource that was capable of being claimed?
